After reading the assignments for this week I have decided that my "values" for art have changed as I get older. When I was in highschool I had absolutely no interest in looking at paintings and trying to understand why or what the painting was about. I have found that there is so much to learn from art!! The history, the emotions and reasons why people paint, sing or create sculptures. It's an amazing and intriguing part of our world and it is so important for art to be a part of our lives!!!

One of the reasons I am excited about taking this course, is I wish to deepen my understanding of the arts. After many years of not really thinking they were that important to me, I can now see that they offer much in understanding, expressing, and enjoying life. I still have a hard time "seeing" or understanding many forms of art, but I hope as this course continues, I will gain a greater appreciation and ability to "look beyond what I see", to borrow a prase from "The Lion King".

I have always enjoyed art, but as I get older I understand and appreciate it more. I enjoy photography and painting. I began interested in art when I lived In Washington at the foothills of a moutain in a national forest. The beauty amazed me and I wanted to share it with other people. When saw something beautiful it inspired me to paint and take pictures. I still have alot to learn about art and humanity and I can already tell that this class will eduacte me and help me reflect.

I see art from every person who creates it to have great value. Art expresses raw emotions that cannot be put into words and that is beautiful. Last year was a rough one for me and my then 3 year old son. One day i set him up in the living room to color. I was amazed to see that on the paper he drew a giant circle and inside the circle their were about 15 stick people all with different expressions on their faces. He was trying to convey his emotions to me and it was beautiful!

I was never the kind of person who looked into art with any type of deeper meaning, or even cared to look for anything within it. But I believe that has a lot to do with having not been brought up around it, I loved reading this chapter it kind of showed me how to look at art in a different way, and now it's kind of opened my eyes to the world of art. So yes I would say my values have changed a lot towards art in general I have more appreciation for the artist who creates it and also the piece it's self.
